Living in a high rise has its upside, especially in the summer.
No lawn to cut, no weeds to pull, just a view of Chicago's Lake Michigan, Lake Shore Drive and the fire works from Navy Pier. And by the way, did you know that on a clear day you can see all the way to Indiana?
The downside for me was spiders... As a small child I came upon a really ugly on one dangling from the ceiling of my grandfather's garage, from that day on I developed an aversion to them. Every summer those blasted spiders would clutter up my high rise windows with their "hanging around".
Since I couldn't get rid of them I decided to observe them. I'd watch them as they were spinning their webs. It seemed as if they didn't spin everyday, some days they appeared to be just "hanging around". Time would pass and I'd notice a few gnats trapped in their webs. More time would pass and to my amazement; and every web would be completely covered with insects. I saw that when it rained the spiders would roll into a ball and then unroll after the rain had stopped. Some times there'd be a hard rain accompanied with a strong wind. Most of the spiders fell away having succumbed to the force of the wind and rain. But there were always one or two that were able to withstand the storm. I don't want you to think that I was bored, I'm just observant.
One August morning, I turned of the air conditioning and decided to open the windows to let in the fresh summer air. As I got to the second window I froze... paralyzed by fear. Before me was the biggest, most ominous, blackest, spiders I had ever seen. Yes, it was uglier than the spider of my childhood. That spider of the mother lode of all arachnids! There "it" was with a web of insects just chillin... doing absolutely nothing. I was so struck by its lack of activity I thought that it might be dead. As if activated by my spiritual power, a slight breeze past by it's body and it moved to reposition itself. My fear was transformed into a sense of peace as Matthew7: 19-24 came to mind " take no thought for what to eat or wear. If God provides for the fish and foul why wouldn't He take care of you who he loves even more?" And then it hit me, all that big, black ominous spider had to do was climb high enough to be level with the gnats, spin a web, sustain itself through the wind and rain and wait. By just being what god had created it to be, a spider, all of its needs were met.
We, as human beings tend to get side tracked by our distractions; our family, our friends, our boss, our home, our car, the rude clerk at the check out line, reality shows, the weather, dropped cell phone calls, Obama... ad nausem.
In Truth it really doesn't matter. All we have to do is be what God created us to be, whether it's a spider, a doctor or an artist.
No matter what your life's purpose, all of us must make it a daily practice to turn away from the distractions... by any means necessary to create a different consciousness.
Whether it is biking along the lake front, listening to music or creating a work of art.
As your spiritual practice increases so does clarity.
You will discover that all of your worldly concerns are just distractions. You will discover that every thing will work out. You will discover that you are positioned at the right level to be patient as you wait for your web to be fulled. You will discover that all of your needs are met.
You will discover that you are doing exactly what God has called you to be ...You

Your Intution

In-tu-i-tion: the act or faculty of knowing or sensing without the use of rational processes, immediate cognition - American Heritage Dictionary

I'm frequently asked "how can I develop my intuition?" I don't know of an exact methodology, but I'm happy to share what I think I know. This post is the first in a series of blogs dedicated to inner awareness.

Many people tell me that "they were psychic as a child, but now as an adult they seemed to have lost that gift". Intuition is intrinsic and omnipresent... it can't be turned on or off or for that matter even "lost". I think what happens is as we go through the educational process we are taught to rely on that which can be reasoned, proven or measured... we learn to think. Intuition is not thinking, it's "sensing or feeling". When intuition speaks, it speaks with a soft voice; it flows to you like a gentle breeze. If you're busy "thinking" you're likely to ignore its message.
Most people don't trust what they feel, there's a tendency to second guess their intuitive thoughts and/or feelings because it might not make sense or simply because the information they've received doesn't match a predicable outcome or experience.
Very often when giving a reading, I will receive information that makes no sense to my rational mind, but I give it any way. Once I was reading for a woman and her "Spirit Guide" came through. I was told by her Guide to ask her if she had a relative named "John" her Guide added "this is a trick question" so I said.. he says ( her Guide) "this is a trick question" The woman paused and began to smile. She related that she comes from a 'blended family" and that "John" was the step-brother from her step-father. She added that there had been much debate amongst her full siblings as to whether or not to include John as a member of their family. The whole "trick question" thing made no sense to me, to be honest I thought I might have been making it up, turned out I wasn't at all. What I learned from that experience was to trust everything, flow with it, cause it comes in easy and light and above all, be obedient... say what you hear, see or feel cause it's not about you... which brings me to another very important place... ego. Ego, masquerades as rational mind and will want to dictate your sensory process. Ego will say to you "that makes no sense" "don't believe that" or like in the above mentioned experience "you're just making that up". Ego needs the rational mind to prevail so it can maintain control. Intuition is best received when one's heart and mind is open to all possibilities.
As I heard someone say... no, exclaim the other day, I believe in everything !!!... that goes for me too. When you are closed to possibilities or filled with anger, hurt and pain you make it difficult to feel the soft gentle breeze of intuition. You're weighed down with "heaviness"...and that becomes the "frequency" you're most likely to tune into. (I am an enthusiastic advocate of forgiveness work..more to come on that topic).

Now here's your first assignment: Pay attention to your every day, every minute thoughts... what do you think?
Did you receive some insight?
How would you describe that feeling?
Did you TRUST that feeling ?
If an action was required, did you follow through?
Just take an hour of your day to monitor and journal your thoughts for that hour.
If you'd like to share your experience with me feel free to email me at :Cynthia@spiritherapist.com
http://www.spiritherapist.com/
